RAD Arts Research Academy on Directing and Arts Education Corp. (“RAD” or “RAD Arts”) is dedicated to researching, developing, and presenting work in arts education and wellness practices. Acting education is a powerful medium offering meaningful support within and beyond the field of practice from supporting musicians in the areas of performance and wellness to business professionals looking for leadership and public speaking skills.

 

At RAD we work with academic institutions, schools, and industry to innovate curriculum and pedagogical tools with the benefit of meaningful social and economic impacts in community and career supports, and health, and wellbeing. RAD’s current research projects are funded by Mitacs (Canada's leading innovation organization), the Michael Smith Foundation (BC’s main research funder with the goal of improving health and strengthening BC’s economy), and the Whelen Family Innovation Fund (dedicated to solving real world problems through innovation).The University of Victoria is one of RAD’s key research partners.

Kara Flanagan

Founder

Dr. Kara Flanagan is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction, University of Victoria. Dr. Flanagan is a co-founder, educator, and teacher at the Victoria, Academy of Dramatic Arts (www.vadarts.com), a post-secondary acting conservatory in British Columbia, Canada.

Lyle Schultz

Graphic Designer and multi-media artists

Lyle Schultz is a multi-media artist, creating a unique and diverse universe of eccentrically electric eclectic absurdities. His work ranges from paintings, comics, literature, animation and short film. Growing up in the prairie seas of Saskatchewan, Lyle migrated to the west coast in search of adventure, exposure, and inspiration. Lyle has received many art related awards for his amazing greatness including funding from the Canada Council for the Arts.
